The Importance of Water

Water is an essential part of a healthy life.  It is important for cellular function, metabolism, detoxification and hydrating your skin and tissues of your bones, joints and ligaments.

While herbal teas can count towards your water intake, coffee should not because it is actually a diuretic.

So, how much water should I be drinking on a daily basis? A good rule of thumb is to aim for half of bodyweight in ounces daily. If you’re 150 pounds, then 75 ounces of water is a good target.

If you feel like you drink a lot of water but still feel dehydrated, you may need to add minerals to your water.

If you don’t like the taste of plain water, you can add a squeeze of lemon or lime or consider adding a mineral with flavor like LMNT to your water.

The source of your drinking water is very important as well. We recommend filtering all of your drinking water and ideally your cooking water. Why? Most refrigerator filters or Brita pitchers don’t cut it. Refer to the document included in this unit for our current favorite water filters for your home. There are several options depending on your living situation, whether you want an in-line or countertop unit.
